Botulinum therapy
Botulinum therapy is a treatment with Clostridium botulinum type A toxin (botulinum toxin eg botox). In aesthetic medicine botulinum therapy is used to temporarily smooth out wrinkles.
How botulinum therapy works?
Botulinum toxin is transferred under the skin or inside the muscle with injections. This cancels the neurotransmission to the muscle, as a result the muscle relaxes and the wrinkles become smoother. Only physicians with qualified training are allowed to do botox injections.
How long does the effect of botox last?
Botox injections therapy has temporary effect and the duration of the effect varies from different patients, lasting approximately up to 4 months. Maximum effect is achieved within 1 month after procedure. The interval between procedures can not be shorter than 3 months.
