Lower eyelid correction
Lower eyelid correction or lower eyelid surgery helps to correct wrinkles and puffiness of the lower eyelid (so called „bags“ under eyes). An incision is performed 2-3 mm along the cilia and is unnoticeable. Sagging skin and subcutaneous tissues are removed during the surgery. Seams help to „strengthen“ a ring muscle around the eye area.
After the surgery, a thin scar shaped like a thin line scratch remains visible for 2-3 months, which later becomes white and less visible. Swellings and bruises after the surgery can remain (but may not) for 2 weeks. During this period, any physical activity shall be avoided.
The final result of the surgery is visible after 6-12 months. The effect of the surgery lasts for 7-10 years and is very individual, depending on the patient’s lifestyle. Smoking, alcohol consumption, night work and UV-radiation shorten the maintaining outcome of the surgery.
